Dipaliya is a women-led social enterprise dedicated to producing premium handcrafted shea butter while empowering rural women in Northern Ghana. The organization operates through two complementary bodies:
Dipaliya Women’s Association – a cooperative of ~500 women artisans in Saakuba Village, Yipelgu, Wuba in Kumbungu District, Northern Ghana.
Dipaliya Foundation – a non-profit coordinating export, trade partnerships, community investment, transparency, and regenerative practices.
The name “Dipaliya” translates to “honesty” in the Dagomba language, reflecting the mission to create sustainable and dignified livelihoods for women.
To economically empower women in Northern Ghana through fair-trade, regenerative shea butter production while investing profits back into community-driven development.
A world where rural women benefit fully from the natural resources they work with, communities lead their own development, and global trade becomes fair, transparent, and regenerative.
Fair Pay & Dignity – Ensuring women receive above-poverty, dignified income.
Regenerative Development – Protecting ecosystems, soil health, and shea tree landscapes.
Community Ownership – Local decision-making controls production and investment.
Transparency – Full traceability across the supply chain.
Cultural Preservation – Honoring traditional artisanal shea butter practices.
